Took effect October 4, 2026. An earlier version, kept as it was published. See the latest Terms of Service.
Added the Explorer single-user plan and free Research Access (eligibility, non-commercial use, citation, 12-month grants); one personal account per person; no bots outside the API, no competitor or model training, no bulk redistribution of enriched data; automated throttling and suspension with human review.
Agreement and Eligibility
These Terms govern access to PoliData during its pre-launch period. By creating an account, accepting an order, or using the service, you accept these Terms for yourself and, where applicable, the organization you represent. You confirm that you have legal capacity and authority to do so. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Public paid subscriptions will remain disabled until the contracting operator is formally established and its full legal name, geographic address, registration details, and tax information can be displayed before checkout and in the contract confirmation. Until then, Stripe interactions are test-mode only and do not create a paid contract.
Acceptance of these Terms is separate from optional analytics consent. Our Privacy Policy explains processing of personal data, and our Cookie Notice provides analytics choices.
Accounts and Organizations
You must provide accurate information, protect credentials, use reasonable account security, and notify us promptly of suspected compromise. You are responsible for activity under your account. Organization owners administer memberships, permissions, subscriptions, and ownership transfers and are responsible for authorized users acting on the organization's behalf.
Each individual may hold only one personal account, and credentials may not be shared between people. You may not obtain trials, free access, or additional plan capacity by using multiple identities, disposable or alias email addresses, or automated sign-ups.
Subscriptions, Fees, and Taxes
Self-service Explorer, Team, Pro, and Business subscriptions begin with a single 14-day trial of the plan selected at signup. A payment card is required. The trial starts only after Stripe accepts the checkout and PoliData receives Stripe's signed confirmation; signup and email verification do not consume trial time. No payment is taken during the trial. Before you confirm, checkout shows the plan, billing period, total price and tax, exact trial end and first-charge date, renewal terms, and accepted payment methods.
A trial is available once per customer and organization, not once per tier. Changing tiers, cancelling, creating another workspace, or resuming later does not restart or extend it. Unless cancelled before the trial ends, the selected monthly subscription is charged in advance and renews monthly at the price and tax you affirmatively accepted. We will not bind a consumer to a material price or contract change for a later renewal merely through silence; where required, we will obtain affirmative agreement or let the current term end.
Explorer is a single-user plan for one individual. It cannot be shared, does not include additional seats, and carries the usage limits shown on the pricing page.
Research Access
Research Access is a free, single-user plan for faculty, doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, and research staff at accredited higher-education or research institutions. We verify eligibility through an institutional email address or by reviewing your application, and we may request further evidence. Approval is at our discretion, and only one Research Access account is available per person.
Research Access is granted for 12 months and may be renewed by re-confirming eligibility. It may be used only for non-commercial research and teaching. It may not be used for paid consulting, lobbying, advocacy campaigns, client work, or any commercial product or service. Publications, datasets, and presentations that rely on PoliData must cite "PoliData (getpolidata.com)" as a source.
Research Access carries the usage limits shown on the pricing page and no service-level commitment. We may suspend or end it if eligibility lapses, if the information you provided was inaccurate, or if the plan is used outside these conditions.
Cancellation, Withdrawal, and Refunds
You may cancel at any time in billing settings. Cancelling during a trial prevents the first charge and access continues until the stated trial end. Cancelling after payment stops the next renewal and service continues until the end of the paid billing period. We do not ordinarily prorate or refund an already-started paid period.
That ordinary policy does not limit mandatory rights. An eligible EU or Polish consumer may withdraw from a distance service contract within 14 days from contract conclusion without giving a reason. Starting an ongoing SaaS service does not by itself waive that right. A proportional charge can apply only where the law permits it and the consumer separately requested performance during the withdrawal period after receiving the required information. Required refunds are made within the statutory period using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
Duplicate or erroneous charges and mandatory remedies for a service that does not conform to the contract are also unaffected. See the Cancellation, Withdrawal and Refund Policy for instructions and the model withdrawal form.
Service License and Ownership
Subject to these Terms and payment obligations, the PoliData operator grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use PoliData for your internal professional or research purposes during the applicable subscription or trial. The PoliData operator and its licensors retain all rights in the service, software, design, documentation, and platform intellectual property. No rights are granted except as expressly stated.
Customer Data and Feedback
You retain rights in data you submit to the service. You grant the PoliData operator a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, copy, process, transmit, display, and modify that data only as needed to provide, secure, support, and maintain PoliData or as instructed by you. You represent that you have the rights and lawful basis needed for data you submit. We may use aggregated or properly de-identified service information that does not identify you or your organization to operate and improve PoliData.
If you provide voluntary feedback, you permit us to use it without restriction or compensation, provided we do not publicly identify you without permission.
Public Data and Generated Output
PoliData aggregates information from public legislative and transparency sources that remain subject to their own terms, licences, and official status. Summaries, classifications, rankings, alerts, and other generated output may contain errors or omissions. They are research aids, not legal, financial, compliance, or investment advice. Verify important information against the cited official source before relying on it.
Acceptable Use
Do not violate law, privacy, intellectual-property rights, contractual restrictions, or third-party rights.
Do not use public-official or account data for harassment, unlawful profiling, spam, discrimination, or threats.
Do not attack, disrupt, probe, bypass security or entitlement controls, introduce malicious code, or interfere with other users.
Do not reverse engineer the service except to the limited extent that applicable law prohibits this restriction.
Do not scrape, bulk-export, resell, sublicense, or provide service access outside documented APIs, workflows, plan limits, or written permission.
Do not access the web application with bots, crawlers, or scripts. Programmatic access is permitted only through the documented API, within your plan's limits.
Do not use the service, its output, or extracts from it to build or train a competing product, dataset, or machine-learning model without written permission.
Do not redistribute PoliData-generated summaries, classifications, linkages, or other enriched data in bulk. Underlying official records remain subject to their source licences and attribution requirements.
Do not submit secrets, special-category personal data, or regulated data unless the service expressly supports it and appropriate terms are in place.
Confidentiality
Each party will protect the other party's non-public information using reasonable care and use it only to perform or receive the service. This obligation does not cover information independently developed, lawfully received without restriction, publicly available without breach, or required to be disclosed by law. Where legally permitted, the receiving party will give advance notice of compelled disclosure.
Privacy and Security
We process personal data as described in the Privacy Policy and use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. You remain responsible for configuring permissions, authorized users, exports, and integrations appropriately. Optional analytics does not form part of the service contract and may be refused or withdrawn without loss of service.
Availability, Changes, and Support
We aim to operate PoliData reliably but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability unless an order form states a specific service level. We may maintain, modify, replace, or discontinue features to improve security, comply with law, respond to source-system changes, or develop the service. We will provide reasonable notice when a material reduction affects a paid subscription, where practicable.
Suspension and Termination
You may stop using PoliData and cancel a subscription according to its billing terms. We may suspend access reasonably necessary to address a security risk, unlawful activity, non-payment, source restriction, or material breach. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and a reasonable opportunity to cure before termination. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination remain effective.
Automated controls may throttle requests that exceed plan limits, and may temporarily suspend an account whose activity shows automated extraction. You can ask for a suspension to be reviewed by contacting support@getpolidata.com. A person reviews it before any suspension becomes permanent.
Data Export and Deletion
Export and deletion tools are available through Settings or by contacting privacy@getpolidata.com. A deleted organization enters a 30-day recovery period with access revoked. After that period, associated workspace data is permanently erased from active systems. Residual encrypted backup copies are purged under the standard rotation, ordinarily no later than 30 additional days. We may retain limited records required for legal, accounting, dispute, fraud-prevention, or security purposes.
Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PoliData is provided "as is" and "as available." The PoliData operator disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you will defend and indemnify the PoliData operator against third-party claims arising from customer data, your unlawful or prohibited use of PoliData, or your material breach of these Terms. We will provide prompt notice and reasonable cooperation, and you may not settle a claim in a manner that admits liability or imposes obligations on the PoliData operator without written consent.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages, or lost profits, revenue, goodwill, or data. The PoliData operator's aggregate liability arising from the service will not exceed the fees paid or payable for the service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 100 if no fees were paid. These limits do not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud, intentional misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable.
Changes to These Terms
We version these Terms. For material changes, we will provide reasonable advance notice and request renewed acceptance before continued account use when appropriate. Changes required urgently for law or security may take effect sooner. Minor clarifications that do not materially change rights or obligations may take effect when posted without requiring new acceptance.
General
An applicable order form controls over conflicting provisions in these Terms. These Terms, referenced policies, and applicable order forms are the entire agreement concerning the service. Neither party may assign the agreement without consent, except in connection with a merger, reorganization, or sale of substantially all relevant assets. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. Invalid provisions will be modified to the minimum extent needed, and the remainder stays effective. Neither party is liable for delay caused by events beyond reasonable control. Mandatory statutory rights and the jurisdiction of competent courts are not displaced by these Terms.
Contact
