What's new
in PoliData.

New features, improvements and fixes, newest first.

October 2026

  1. Fixed

Alerts no longer treat historical updates as news (Link to this update)

Alerts and saved searches match only what changed in each update, not older records we reprocess later, and topic surges count recent parliamentary activity.

    • Reprocessing past parliamentary terms no longer triggers keyword, legislator or status alerts
    • Topic surges count bills acted on in the window, not bills whose summary or data was refreshed
  2. FixedEU

Correct dates for national measures and adopted EU acts (Link to this update)

The transposition tracker and EU files now show each national measure's and each adopted act's own dates. Some dates had been taken from other measures or acts.

    • National measures show their own notification, gazette and entry-into-force dates
    • A measure that transposes several directives shows its CELEX number for the directive you are viewing
    • Adopted EU acts show their own signature, publication and end-of-validity dates
    • Documents on EU files show their own dates
    Open the tracker
  3. FixedEU

EU files from 2015 on show the same types and outcomes (Link to this update)

EU procedures from 2015 to 2024 now use the same types and statuses as newer ones, and the status says how a file ended instead of staying active.

    • Delegated and implementing act files are EU proposals in every year, no longer bills before 2025
    • Resolutions show Passed when Parliament adopted a text, Withdrawn when the debate ended without one
    • Delegated acts show Passed once scrutiny ends without objection, Failed when Parliament objected
    • More EU files get their document text and an AI summary
  4. New

See one day at a time in the calendar (Link to this update)

The calendar has a Day view on the same time grid as the week, with each sitting's title, time, committee and room. Open it from the view menu, a day's header in the week, or a date in the month.

    • Up to ten concurrent sittings sit side by side; busy days get wider columns and "+N more" opens the rest
    • Choose a time scale from 60 to 5 minutes, or a Monday-to-Friday work week, in the view menu
    • Hide the month panel to give the grid the full width; your choice is remembered
    Open today's calendar
  5. New

Choose the topics you follow when you join (Link to this update)

New accounts start by picking at least five topics from the policy areas we tag every bill with, busiest in your parliaments first. Explore suggests bills on them from day one.

    • Each busy topic shows how many bills were active in your countries this month
    • Followed topics are always from our list, so they match bills in every parliament
    • Your picks become your Explore topics: change them any time in Settings or Explore
    Open Explore
  6. FixedEU

Recent EU MEP meeting declarations (Link to this update)

EU lobbying views now collect meeting declarations directly from the European Parliament, with daily updates and regular checks of historical records.

    • Separate attendee links retain the people and organizations named in each declaration
    • Published MEP IDs and procedure references connect meetings to the correct member and legislative item
  7. NewDE

Germany: the Bundestag and Bundesrat in PoliData (Link to this update)

Follow German federal legislation from DIP: every Bundestag and Bundesrat stage of a procedure, with committees, roll-call votes and plenary sittings in the calendar.

    • Printed papers (Drucksachen) with full text; search in German or by number, e.g. BT-Drs. 21/6561
    • Enactment in the Federal Law Gazette (BGBl), linked to the EU directives a law transposes
    • Results of the 2025 Bundestag election in Elections
    • Not included yet: lobbying register (Lobbyregister) entries
    Browse German legislation
  8. Improved

Choose which suggestions Explore shows you (Link to this update)

Turn Continue where you left off, Related bills and Compare across countries on or off in Search & personalization. Your analytics choice is now saved to your account.

    • Related bills now appear in For you: bills like the ones you opened, in the same parliament
    • Compare across countries runs your recent search in every other parliament in your plan
    • Hiding a suggestion type deletes nothing; recording switches stay under History
    • Your analytics choice follows you to every device you sign in on
    Open Search & personalization
  9. New

  10. NewEU

A concluded EU procedure now shows the act it produced: whether it is in force, when each part starts to apply, and the documents before and after adoption.

    • Entry-into-force and application dates by article, past and upcoming
    • Proposal, impact assessment, opinions and Parliament position in one list
    • Implementing and delegated acts, reports, amendments and consolidated versions

    • Filter by member state, status, deadline or directive
    • Open a directive to compare all 27 member states and their notified measures
    • Polish and Dutch laws show how their country did on each directive they transpose
    • An EU flag tag on bill cards marks laws that transpose a directive or implement a regulation
    Open the tracker
  12. Improved

Bill text: every document, in your language (Link to this update)

The Bill text tab opens the main document in the language you use PoliData in, when the parliament publishes it, and lists every other document so you can switch between them.

    • Reports, amendments, opinions, explanatory memoranda and annexes are grouped by type
    • Pick another language from the language filter when a document comes in several
    • European Parliament procedures now show their documents instead of “no text”
  13. New

See when a bill is up for debate or a vote (Link to this update)

A bill's page now shows the sittings it's scheduled for, and each calendar event links to the bills on its agenda. The card appears only where the parliament publishes a schedule.

    • European Parliament votes without a roll call now appear, with their outcome and counts
    • European Parliament files list shadow rapporteurs and every committee that gave an opinion
    Open the calendar
  14. Improved

Invite several people at once, and turn email off (Link to this update)

Paste a list of addresses to invite a whole team in one go, with the seats you have left shown as you type. One switch in Notifications now stops all notification email.

    • Pending invites count as used seats, and Invite says when every seat is taken
    • Search (⌘K) now finds pages and settings, including ones hidden from the sidebar
    • Sign-in & security shows when you last changed your password
    • Usage shows your billing period, and Reset to default also removes your photo
    Open notification settings

Protect your account with an authenticator app or a passkey, and see every device that's signed in to it. Sign out any one of them, or all the others, from Sign-in & security.

    • Recovery codes get you back in if you lose your authenticator app
    • Workspace owners can require two-step verification for every member
    • Sensitive changes, like new API keys or deleting a workspace, ask you to confirm it's you
    Open security settings

    • Search in English, Polish or Dutch and find matching records in the other two languages

    • Mark watchlist bills Support or Oppose; Session outcomes counts your wins, losses and bills at risk

    Create a report
  20. Improved

See why an alert or saved search matched (Link to this update)

Notifications now show the keywords that matched with a highlighted excerpt, and the item page opens a “Why this matched” panel that points to the passage.

    • Saved searches and keyword alerts match on any one keyword, not all of them
    • A keyword of several words matches only as that exact phrase
    • Alerts that aren't on a watchlist now appear in your inbox, each in its own folder
    • The bell shows 20+ when more than 20 notifications are unread
    Open inbox

September 2026

  1. Improved

A better way to read documents (Link to this update)

    • Group Dutch documents by their parliamentary dossier
    • Open the official file when its format can't be previewed
    • Browsing a parliament's documents is faster
    Open Documents
  2. New

Read and compare official bill text (Link to this update)

    • Step through changes with Next and Previous, or jump from the overview of edits
    • Open a change's page in the original PDF where page references are reliable
    • Incomplete or unverified scans are labelled and left out of comparisons
    Browse legislation
  3. Fixed

Members, sponsors and statuses checked at the source (Link to this update)

We compared each parliament's records with its official source and corrected what differed, including current members, sponsors, committees and bill statuses.

    • US bills list withdrawn cosponsors separately, with the date they withdrew
    • When another member takes over a US bill, it shows the new lead sponsor and keeps the original
    • EU procedures now carry a status, and departed MEPs no longer show as current
    • New parliamentary terms are picked up automatically in all five parliaments

August 2026

  1. Improved

Daily Brief puts what needs action first (Link to this update)

    • Next 7 days steps through your parliaments one at a time
    • Calendar links from the brief open the exact event
    • Change volume shows the last 7 days by default

    Open Elections

    • Add several bills, people or committees to a watchlist at once
    • Latest signal shows when something last fired, not when the list was edited
    • Opening a notification marks it read; Mark all read clears the rest
    Open watchlists
  4. ImprovedNL

Dutch votes shown the way they're cast (Link to this update)

Most Tweede Kamer votes are a show of hands by party, with no individual ballots. Vote pages now say so and show each party's position and seats, not member tallies.

    • Each Dutch vote is labelled Hand-raise · by faction or Roll-call
    • Party totals are weighted by seats, so a 140–10 vote reads 140–10
    • Party history follows official seat records, including members who switched party
    • Dutch member profiles now show official portraits
    Browse votes
  5. FixedPL

The right lead sponsor on Polish bills (Link to this update)

Polish bills now name as lead sponsor the MP the signatories authorised to represent them, not the first name on the signature list, which was almost never the lead.

    • Government, Presidium, Senate and citizens' bills no longer list MPs as sponsors
    • Committee bills and committee reports name the committee, including joint committees
    • Committees are matched under their former names too
  6. New

    • Mark changes read, save them to a watchlist or create an alert, one at a time or in bulk
    • Set a reminder before a committee hearing
    • Next 7 days includes UK chamber business, Sejm sittings, US floor votes and EU plenary votes
    • Set up a morning digest email
    Open Daily Brief
  7. Improved

A faster calendar (Link to this update)

The calendar now loads about a tenth of the data for a month and fetches the months either side in the background, so moving between weeks doesn't wait on the network.

    • Event details load when you open an event
    • Quiet recess weeks say so and offer Jump to next event
    • Fixed busy months cutting off events after the first 1,000
    Open calendar

    • How each MEP voted, for roll-call votes
    • EU directives link to the Polish and Dutch laws that transpose them, and back
